Frankenstein question no 11

Who is the real monster in the novel? Give reasons for your answer.

Introduction:-

If we talked about monster or the definition of monster is something like inhuman. In literature the word monster is used to refer to men who have done horrible things. A true monster is evil, inhumane, and lacks remorse or caring for things that a normal, emotional human being should care for. Mary Shelly in Frankenstein analyzes vital issues in her novel in terms of being able to use science and knowledge for the good of people and not for the satisfaction of personal ambitions without even being able to take responsibility for that.

The Perception of Monster:-

Due to appearance of monster,  “his yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries…his hair was of a lustrous black…his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes…his shriveled complexion and straight black lips” we can judge the Frankenstein’s creation as a real monster. But if we look at Frankenstein's character we can clearly says that who was the real monster.

The Complex:-

The harsh reality of Frankenstein is Victor creates a creature from whom he himself is afraid. His creation is “born” as a tabula rasa. Victor’s creation is not a monster. Victor rejects his own creation and constant rejection cause him to be react as monster.

Victor is a Monster:-

We can called Victor as a monster with many characteristics. Victor Frankenstein created his being due to his thirst for alchemy and his unnatural obsession with being like God.

Victor abandoned him as a new born baby. Instead of teaching moral lessons and helping him to adjust with society, he leaves him.

His abandonment erased the understanding of human compassion. While living in De Lacey family he helps them, but when they are heats the monster he becomes a real monster.

Victor was reckless scientist who throws his unlearned creation in society to servive.

Victor Frankenstein is The Modern Prometheus, for he made the knowledge of creating life assessable, and by doing so, he is cursed to endure the ratifications of his creation.

Victor goes into deep depression and he blames monster for his depression.

Victor's rejection is the main reasonc that is ultimately end in the death of Victor. Victor devalued his creation’s life for personal gain, which led inevitably to his own great personal suffering and the suffering of those close to him.

Victor is a hostile and selfish being whose rejection of his creation led to his demise, and that of his family.

Though the creature looks likea monter in the outside, inside he simply wants to be happy just like everybody else and have somebody to share everything with. One the other hand Viktor Frankenstein looks like a man in his external but his internal being is a real selfish monster.

Conclusion:-

In the conclusion we can say that Victor may be thinking about the dire problems which was faced by him because of monster. But, he was careless person who was very excited to create something but he has no ability to take responsibility for it. So as per all points we can clearly says the first or real monster was Victor.
